FALL LEAF NOTES

This project took place during the month of October, 2018.  One leaf, with a “note” stitched on it, was tagged and left for someone to find, in a public place, every day for the duration of the month.  The leaf was documented where it was left and the photo was posted on Instagram at @jlhand70 with the hashtag: #fallleafnotes.  Framed replicas are available upon request (see examples below).

A leaf, whether it be on the ground in the fall, or new on the tree in the spring, is a quiet and miraculous reminder that life goes on. Thoreau said the autumn leaves “teach us how to die”. I think, even more than that, they teach us how to let go of whatever we need to let go of, gracefully, quietly and at just the right time, with the faith that there is always something new to come.
